Les EAN sont-ils universels ou étatiques?

L’EAN est universel puisqu’il s’agit d’une norme adoptée à l’échelle mondiale, à l’exception des États-Unis et du Canada. Les codes EAN sont similaires aux UPC, sauf que les codes EAN ont 13 chiffres. Les produits en vente à l’extérieur des États-Unis ont des code-barres standard EAN alors que ceux vendus aux États-Unis et au Canada exigent le code-barres UPC.
